Catholic SpiritualityAnglicanism, of which the American Episcopal Church is a part, is an independent branch of the historic Catholic Church along with the Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Old Catholic, and Oriental Churches. Anglican Catholic spirituality historically rooted in Early Christian and Benedictine spirituality is centered in the Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and in God’s relationship with His creation. The spirituality of all the Catholic Churches Roman, Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, Old Catholic, and Oriental is ecclesiastical, sacramental, and liturgical. That is, its principal expression is within the Body of Christ gathered (the holy Catholic Church), with Jesus Christ made uniquely present through the seven Sacraments, which are celebrated in historic liturgy.
